Heal.
When I was a kid I was no stranger to the occasional cut, scrap or brews. My dad would often dress my wounds but would rarely give me a band-aid. He would say, “let the air get too it so it could heal”. Unfortunately, there are far too many of us men walking around boldly broken. Someone has convinced us that it is a sign of weakness to admit that we have cracks. The problem is that you can’t heal things that you have not first admitted are broken. God never intended for us to hide instead His peace can be found in seeking wholeness.
Healing is the process of putting your self back together or simply just becoming healthy again. There are many processes out there to help you start on the journey towards emotional healing. I’ve found success in using Deepak Chopra’s 7 Steps Exercise to Release Emotional Turbulance:
Physically identify the emotion
Focus on the experience that created the emotion
Talk about the emotion
Take responsibility
Release the emotion
Share the outcome
Celebrate the process
Give this process a try!
